Original art built to the trim, spine and jacket flaps of your edition.

Interior line art

Chapter openers, maps, diagrams and vignettes for print and eBook.

Comic and graphic novel

Pencils, inks, colour and lettering, panelled to a finished script.

Animated art, type and score, cut for retail pages and social.

Sketch first, always

Step 1
Brief and references

We read the manuscript and agree the style with you in writing.

Step 2
Roughs

Thumbnails and character roughs, two rounds of changes included.

Step 3
Finished art

Rendered at 300 dpi to the exact trim, with bleed and safety.

Step 4
Files and rights

Layered source files handed over, with full rights assigned to you.

Children’s book studio

A separate studio, because picture books are a separate craft

Character sheets, a full storyboard, and page-by-page spreads planned to a 24, 32 or 40 page signature so the pacing lands where the page turns.

Character design

Turnarounds, expressions and scale, so the same child looks like the same child on page 30.

Storyboard and spreads

The whole book thumbnailed first, so the page turns carry the surprise.

Finished art and typesetting

Full-bleed spreads, hand-placed text, and print-ready files for hardcover or board book.

How we work

Nothing is rendered until the thumbnails work

Full-colour art is the most expensive thing in the book, so it comes last. If a spread is not working at thumbnail size, no amount of rendering will save it, and we would rather redraw a thumbnail than a finished page.

Illustration FAQ

Do you use AI-generated artwork?
Not as final art. Every commission is drawn, and we tell you who is drawing it before you commit.
Can I see the artist’s previous work?
Yes. You are matched to an illustrator by genre and shown their portfolio before the brief is signed.
What if the roughs are not right?
Two rounds of changes are included at rough stage, which is exactly where changes should happen. Reworking finished art costs far more, so we spend the time early.
Who owns the artwork?
You do, on final payment, including layered source files on request.
Can you match art across a series?
Yes. A style guide and character sheets are built once and carried forward, so book four looks like book one.
