A ghostwriting portfolio works differently here, because ghostwriting at Western Reflections is confidential and the client is the only author named. So this page shows what you can check for yourself: the books we publish, the covers our studio designed, and what authors say about working with us.

What a ghostwriting portfolio can and cannot show
Most ghostwriters can't show you their best work, and we can't either. Our privacy policy promises that the service is "100% confidential," and that you alone are recognized as the author of what we write for you. So no book on this page is named as ghostwritten, and you shouldn't assume any of them was. That silence is the service doing its job.

Browse the published books by genre
These are books the house has published under the author's own name. They're not ghostwritten examples. You'll find all of them, and the rest of the catalogue, in the library of 196 books, and the people behind them on our authors page.
Local history is the backbone of the list. A Brief History of Silverton by Duane A. Smith came out in 2004, followed by Otto Mears and the San Juans by E. F. Tucker and Grand Mesa Country by Abbott Fay. A Quick History of Ouray by P. David Smith dates from 1999.
The fiction runs from western adventure to suspense. A Thread of Gold by R. Reed Johnson runs to 480 pages. Robert Hardaway wrote Papyrus and Alienation of Affection. Alex Harold wrote Slumgullion Gold, and Tara Meixsell wrote Silverheels.
Lives from the mountain West get their own shelf. Sisters in Sin, the Nellie Spencer Story is another Duane A. Smith book, published in 2011. Unbroken Spirits appeared in 2001. Otto Mears and the San Juans is a biography too.
Picture books and early readers sit beside the history. Lyn Bezek wrote Daisy The Cripple Creek Donkey and Denver Days, both from 2004. Baby; the Poodle Cow Dog by Willyn Webb and Gracie Comes Home by Diane Dike followed in 2007.
Photography books need careful production, and we've made several. Colorado: An Aerial Geography of the Highest State pairs Tom Huber with Jim Wark. Durango Country and Colorado For the First Time are by Claude Steelman.
Some of the best Colorado writing is out of print elsewhere. Ernest Ingersoll's Crest of the Continent came back in a 2010 edition, and Doc Shores is an authorized reprint of Wilson Rockwell's Memoirs of a Lawman.

The gallery holds 33 covers across five categories. They were produced in-house and released with the author's permission. If you'd like one of your own, cover design starts at $850, and a cover with commissioned original art starts at $1,800. The details are on our cover design service page.
How a project runs, from first call to final file
Use the contact form or call the office. A person replies, and there's no reading fee if you're submitting a manuscript.
We read it before quoting, and we'll say so if the manuscript needs an earlier stage than the one you asked for.
One number is quoted up front and the scope is agreed before work starts. There's no hourly billing.
One team then stays with your book: a writer, an editor and a project manager.
Editing, design and production are half on booking and half on delivery. Ghostwriting is paid in stages against delivered chapters. We don't ask for the full fee up front.

Can I see a ghostwriting portfolio?
Ghostwritten books are confidential here, so we don't name them. You can browse our published books, cover designs and reviews on this page, and you're welcome to ask us what else we can share before you commit.
Will my name be on the book?
Yes. Under the confidentiality terms in our privacy policy, you alone are recognized as the author and owner of the material, and we reserve no rights to what we write or edit for you.
Do you ghostwrite the books you publish?
The books in the catalogue are published under the author's name. What we write for private clients stays private, so we don't confirm or deny that about any particular book.
Who owns the copyright to a ghostwritten book?
You do. Nothing you sign with us takes ownership of the work. As a general rule, the U.S. Copyright Office says the author owns the copyright, which can pass to another party through a contract. Its guide to works made for hire covers the exceptions. This is general information, not legal advice, and your engagement terms govern.
How much does a ghostwriter cost?
It's a fixed fee quoted up front. Ghostwriting is priced between $0.20 and $0.32 a word, or as a flat project fee. A short book starts at $6,000 and a memoir at $12,000. The pricing page has the full list.
How do you handle the reviews on this page?
They're shown in the authors' own words, unchanged. Nothing is shortened or reworded, and you can read more on the testimonials page.
