About Our Content
Western Reflections Publishing has published books since 1996. The guides, articles and tools on this site come out of that work. This page explains how they are made, so you know what to rely on and what to check for yourself.
What we publish
- Author Resources: step-by-step guides on writing, editing, publishing, marketing and the business of being an author.
- The blog: articles on ghostwriting, editing, self-publishing and what authors ask us most often.
- Author tools: calculators and checkers for word count, spine width, royalties and similar jobs.
- The publishing directory: publishers by state and city, with contact details we have checked.
- The library and author pages: our own back catalogue of books and the authors behind them.
Who writes it
Articles carry the name of the writer and the date they were published, and each blog writer has a short biography at the foot of the post. Guides are written from what our editors, ghostwriters and designers see working with authors every week, not assembled from other websites.
How we keep it accurate
- Prices, fees and royalty rates are labelled with the year they were checked. Publishing costs change, so treat any figure as a guide and confirm it before you spend money.
- When a guide depends on a rule from a third party, such as the U.S. Copyright Office, an ISBN agency or a retailer, we name the source so you can read it yourself.
- We review guides and update them when the facts change. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
- Our calculators are simple planning aids. Check their results against your printer, distributor or retailer before you commit.
Advice, not guarantees
Our guides explain how publishing generally works. They are not legal, tax or financial advice. For a contract, a copyright dispute or a tax question, talk to a qualified professional. No guide can promise sales, reviews or a traditional publishing deal.
Services and independence
We sell ghostwriting, editing, design, publishing and marketing services, and some guides mention them where they apply. We say so plainly and we also explain the alternatives, including doing a job yourself or hiring someone else. Our advice on scams and unfair contracts applies to us as much as to anyone.
