About this book

Telluride: A Silver Past, A Golden Future is a history of the Colorado mountain town by Susan Dalton, a Telluride resident. The publisher's old online store listed it with a description saying the book tells the story of the transformation of a pure and pristine valley into a twenty-first century resort destination.

The Telluride Historical Museum described it as a coffee table book and announced a free signing with Dalton on September 4, 2014. Its page says the project grew out of her interest in history, antiques and vintage postcards. The book mixes short passages of text with maps, historical photographs and prints. Many of the images come from Dalton's own collection, and others were supplied by local history enthusiast Dirk dePagter and the museum.

According to the museum, the story starts with the Uncompahgre Utes who lived in the valley and runs to recent times, including a local skier's Olympic silver medal. Our record has no page count, ISBN or publication year for the book, so we state none.

Readers

Who it is for

This book suits visitors and residents who want Telluride's story told through pictures as much as text. It is a fit for collectors of vintage postcards and prints, and for anyone planning a trip who wants a look at the town before and after the resort era.
